Seasons of Light and Magic

Then like glimpses in a crystal ball we see that things will never be the same.”

This little volume is a collection of two literary works. The first is a memoir of my childhood Christmas experiences that celebrates a mother’s love of Christmas and her determination to pass along to her two sons the elements of joy that made the season memorable.

The second is a fictional piece about a preacher who comes to a small town in Wyoming thinking that the best way to fill his church for the Christmas sermon is to wear a six-gun around town. In classical O. Henry style he ends up learning an important lesson from the town drunk.

Christmas in Georgepatch

Beauty always contains a little sorrow.”

A touching memoir in the style of Truman Capote about how a loving mother used her talents to make a magical experience out of Christmas for her boys and her husband living in Central Texas during the 1950’s.

This touching, beautifully written, memoir piece about a boy growing up in Georgetown, Texas with a mother who loved Christmas will transform the mood of even the toughest Scrooge into that of a jovial holiday spirit.

Re-released in time for Christmas, this tiny volume tells the story of a mother determined to pass along to her sons the light and magic of her favorite time of year. Follow along as they shop the ingredients for her fabulous Cheese Batter Buns, sit beside them as they draw on paper every play of a Thanksgiving football game, and ride in the car with the family out to look at all the decorations on the houses of Georgetown. And finally, stand with the son who returns to Texas to visit his mother for one last season.

Destined to be a classic, recipient of multiple loving reviews, may this memoir serve to brighten your days in dark times and deepen your enjoyment of this magical season.
